I have always loved these Canadian-based pastries. It is a fried dough pastry, that is individually hand stretched to resemble the tail of a beaver. This is a much healthier recipe for the yummy pastry!
- 3/4 cup milk
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons yeast (quick rising)
- Topping
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
Place ingredients for dough in bread maker on dough setting.
Once dough cycle is completed, remove and cover for 10 minutes.
Form into 8 balls. Roll each ball to 1/4 inch thickness in an oval shape.
Place on parchment paper on baking sheets, cover and allow to rest 15 minutes. Brush with melted butter, and top with mixture of sugar and cinnamon. Bake 20 minutes 350F oven.
Remove and ENJOY!
This recipe is much more healthy than the fried version, but just as delicious!
